Hello!
This week I wanted to share some tips on how to travel with your makeup, and what all I feel is essential to bring. Ideally you would only bring one of each type of product (mascara, bronzer, etc.), which I know sounds boring. A few good reasons for this is I highly recommend putting as much makeup in your carry on bag as possible. Some makeup can be heavy, too, so it is better to take less. I will share with you which makeup I took with me on my trip to Oregon, and why. If you take anything away from this post please let it be: PACK YOUR POWDER MAKEUP PRODUCTS IN YOUR CARRY ON. There are no TSA rules against having powder products in your carry on (except you know, illegal items), and most of your liquid products will fall under the allowed liquid amount in carry on bags. The reason you don’t want to put your powder products in your checked suitcase is because when those TSA agents throw your suitcase around, there is a high chance your favorite eye shadow palette will shatter. I’ve also opened my makeup bag that was in my suitcase and found foundation squeezed out everywhere on everything else. Not a fun time. If you have to pack your powder products in your suitcase, wrap them up in bubble wrap or clothing to help protect them.
Some of the products I’m taking I only have one kind of, like my eyebrow pencil, primer, and setting powder. I recommend taking versatile eye shadow palettes, face palettes that contain blushes, bronzers, and highlights are also ideal. They take up a lot less room if you have everything in one palette. I brought two eye shadow palettes with me, one more cool toned and one more warm toned. I also brought my Lorac face palette that has two different blush and highlights I like to wear. It is no longer available since it was part of their Pirates of the Caribbean collection, but I will link some similar products.
Tarte Tartlette in Bloom Palette $46
This is probably the eye shadow palette I use the most. It is perfect for everyday, natural looks. Plus you can do a ton of different looks with it. Lasts all day, too.
ColourPop Kathleen Lights collab, Dream St. Eye Shadow Palette $16
This is another great eyeshadow palette. I chose this one because you can do natural looks, but it also has great pops of color. Plus the shade “Moony” is perfect to use everyday.
Lorac Pirates of the Caribbean Palette
Mascara – L’Oreal Voluminous in Blackest Black $5.79
This mascara gives you really nice volume, and it is easy to remove.
Eyebrow Pencil -Maybelline Define and Fill Eyebrow Pencil $6.89
This is my favorite brow pencil. I really love the color and the pencil is thick so it makes it easy to fill in your brows. It also has a brow powder on one end.
Primer- Laura Geller New York Spackle Hydrating Treatment Under Makeup Primer $32
This primer is on the pricier side, but it comes with two ounces of product versus the one ounce you get with most primers. Plus it is worth it!
Foundation – Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation $36
This has become my favorite foundation. I wore this during my whole Oregon trip. It stayed on through a five mile hike, I never worried about it moving or rubbing off. It lasted the entire day and night. I wear shade 1.1 for reference.
Concealer -Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer $7.79
This is my favorite concealer, so it was a no brainer to take it with me!
Eyeshadow Primer- NYX Proof It Eyeshadow Primer $6.99
I love this eyeshadow primer because it has a wand applicator and it makes my shadows last all day!
Setting Powder- Maybelline® FIT ME! Matte + Poreless Powder $5.89
I love how this powder looks on the skin, and it is very affordable!
Bronzer- No7 Bronzer in the shade Maple $12.99
The packaging of this product is nice and compact, making it easy to travel with. I also really like the shade.
Lip Products- e.l.f matte lip color in the shade natural $3
This product is easy to apply and it is a nice neutral pink for everyday wear.
To set my makeup, I use the Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. The big bottle only cost $7!
