Hello!
This week I wanted to share easy tips on how to fight dry winter skin. When it gets cold outside, the air gets really dry, which results in your skin getting dry, too. I want to share some products and other tips that will help add moisture, and retain the moisture your skin already has. Many of these products are affordable, too!
The first tip is to change your facial cleanser to one formulated for dry skin. CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser is a great affordable option. Also, if you aren’t already, oil based cleansers are great for your morning facial cleanse. Oil based cleansers are less likely to strip your face of moisture.
The second tip is to tone your skin less. I like to tone my skin in the morning, and at night after I use a cleanser. If you find your skin getting dry and flakey, try only toning at night. Some toners contain alcohol, which can be drying. The toner I use is the eb5 alcohol free toner.
The third tip is to incorporate a facial oil into your skincare routine. Facial oils are a great way to seal in moisture, and they also contain healthy nutrients for your skin. Use a few drops after toning, and before your serum. The Ordinary is a great affordable brand with many different facial oil options.
The fourth tip is to use facial mists. Facial mists are a great way to add extra moisture to your skin, without disrupting your makeup. You can also use a mist before you apply your makeup to prime your skin. Mists are really a great product to use any time of the day. Something about spraying your face with a mist is so fun and relaxing, too! I like the Mario Badescu Rose Water Facial Spray, which also has aloe and herbs. Another great one is the Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist from Target.
The fifth tip is to add moisturizing face masks into your routine. Sheet masks are a quick and easy way to help hydrate your skin. Hydrating overnight masks are another great option to help fight dry skin. Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost sheet and pod masks are great affordable options for this!
The sixth tip is for helping chapped winter lips! A sugar scrub will be your best friend if your lips are easily chapped during the winter. Sugar scrubs work to remove the dead skin from lips, revealing soft smooth lips. Make sure you apply a ton of lip balm after! I use the Diva Stuff brand sugar scrub that can be found on Amazon or Etsy.
The seventh and final tip is to moisturize your entire body before bed. I don’t know about you, but when I get into bed at night and it’s cold out, my arms and back feel dry and itchy! When winter hits, it’s always a good idea to put lotion pretty much everywhere before bed. Your skin absorbs more while you sleep, and adding moisturizer will help get rid of that dry itchy feeling. I like to use Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion year round.
I hope these tips will help you combat dry winter skin. These tips will work no matter what your skin type is. What are some of your favorite moisturizing products?
