Hello! This week on the blog, I am talking the best and worst drugstore BB creams! I have selected five BB creams, and will be telling you what I like and don’t like about each one. BB creams are great for the summer heat, because they are lightweight and won’t clog your pores.
It should also be noted BB creams have light coverage, and are a mix of skincare and makeup. They enhance your skin while you wear them, and a lot of BB creams contain SPF. Another thing BB creams are know for, are their not so great shade ranges. Since this is a common problem, I will not be grading them so much on that. I recommend using a white foundation mixer to lighten them.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream
First up is the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. This BB cream contains SPF 30, and claims to do a lot of good for your skin. It comes in three shades, and is made with clean ingredients. This BB creams applies easily with a brush. You can also use a sponge, but will have better coverage with a brush. This Maybelline BB cream has a nice light coverage, with a natural finish. It wears well throughout the day, and feels good on the skin. It also comes in a version for oily skin.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Aging Perfector
Next, we have the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Aging Perfector. This is not called a BB cream, but it does the same thing. It provides a sheer tint, and contains retinol which can help fine lines. This BB cream blends nicely with a brush, but looks a little drying. Using a sponge to apply it can help with this. This one comes in four shades and has SPF 20.
NYX Beauty Balm BB Cream
The NYX Beauty Balm BB Cream is my absolute favorite! This one blends really nicely with a brush, but looks even better with a sponge. The finish has a subtle glow, which is pretty for summer. My favorite part is the lightest shade Nude is not too dark for me. It also wears nicely throughout the day. I HIGHLY recommend giving this one a try!
Physicians Formula Super BB Cream
Now, the Physicians Formula BB cream is complete garbage. When you apply it with a brush, it looks dry and cakey. Using a sponge helps a little, but not enough. I even tried applying a hydrating mist, but that didn’t help either. It also looked worse as the day went on. The only good things about this are that the coverage was nice and it has a matte finish.
CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream
Finally, we have the CoverGirl Clean Matte BB Cream. The best thing about this one is that it comes in six shades! This one looks a little dry when you put it on with a brush, but using a damp sponge makes it look awesome! It blends easily, and the sponge makes the finish a little dewy. This one also wears well throughout the day.
I would recommend giving all of these drugstore BB creams a try except the Physicians Formula one. They all have nice light coverage, and give a natural finish. BB creams are nice for hot weather, because they are sweat proof and won’t clog pores. All of these are also made to benefit your skin, too. The NYX one was my absolute favorite, but the CoverGirl BB cream has the best shade range!
