Hello!
This week I thought it would be helpful to share my quick morning skincare routine. There are five steps, but I timed it and it takes me around 10 minutes to complete. In the morning, it is better to do a gentle cleanse so you do not strip your skin of too much moisture. For reference, I have normal to oily skin, but most of these products will work for all skin types. Also, I do splurge a little on skincare because I believe taking care of your skin is very important, so I like using better quality products.
Step one is to cleanse your face. I use the Jordan Samuel After Show Treatment Cleanser, which is a gel-to-oil cleanser. This cleanser is made to be placed directly on the skin without water, when you rub it in it turns into an oil. I prefer putting a very minimal amount of water on my face, and then rubbing in a pea size amount, and then rinsing it off. This cleanser is excellent at cleansing your skin without dying it out. It also has a very fresh citrus scent. The three ounce bottle costs $20, the shipping was affordable and I received my cleanser two days after ordering it. Get it here on The Jordan Samuel Skin website.
Step two is to tone, I use the eb5 Anti-Aging Toner. Toning is important to rid your skin of excess oil and dead skin cells. The lactic acid in this product is effective, but it works well with sensitive skin. It is also more moisturizing than some other acids, like glycolic. This toner also helps to firm your skin and reduce pores, plus it is alcohol free. Alcohol is an ingredient found in a lot of toners, which has no benefit and can dry out your skin. I also feel like this toner helps clear up any occasional blemishes I get. This toner also only costs $10 online from Target!
Step three is to apply a serum. Using a serum is a great way to add extra moisture, because the ingredients and consistency of a serum are made to be absorbed deeper into the skin. The SkinFix Moisture Boost Serum targets reducing pigmentation, repairing collagen, and enhancing elasticity and radiance. I used about half a pump, a little goes a long way. It costs $25 and is available online at Target. I can’t find the Target link, the link below is from Ulta. You can search “SkinFix Serum” on the Target website and it will come up.
Step four is to moisturize. While the serum adds moisture, the extent is minimal, so it is important to follow up with a moisturizer. I really like the SkinFix Hydrating Lotion because it is lightweight and has great ingredients. It is also free of any added fragrances and aluminum. I use about a pump and a half for my face and neck. Can you tell I really like the SkinFix brand? Both the moisturizer and serum last me around four months. The lotion costs $30.49 on the Target website. If you have very dry skin, I would suggest the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing lotion.
The final step is to apply a sunscreen. Protecting your face from the sun is so important for preventing wrinkles and sun spots/damage. I wish I would have started using one everyday sooner! I like the Aveeno Positively Radiant moisturizer with SPF 30. Some other sunscreens with SPF 30 can be very thick and hard to spread over the skin. This one is lightweight and easy to spread, also making it great to wear under your makeup. If you are going to an event where there will be flash photography, you may want to use an SPF 15 so that you don’t have any flashback on your face. I really like the Olay Complete daily moisturizer. For any other day, I would suggest going for the SPF 30. The Aveeno Lotion costs $12.19 right now on the Target website, the Olay Moisturizer is $8.29.
I really love all of these products, after I complete this routine my skin is left feeling fresh and light. My skin also looks healthy without getting oily. All of these products work really well under makeup too!
