Hello!
This week I wanted to share my review of the Isle of Paradise tanning mousse. If you read the title, you might be wondering why on earth I would ever buy green tanning mousse. Yes, this mousse has a green tint and I’ll get into why in a second. Trust me, you won’t end up looking like the hulk, just keep reading. If you’ve seen my self tanning routine blog post, you know I used to use the Beauty by Earth tanning lotion. While I still really like that lotion, it can feel heavy on the skin at times. I had heard a lot of other people raving about tanning mousses, claiming that they are lightweight and dry quicker. Those are the main reasons I wanted to try something new.
So, the Isle of Paradise tanning mousse comes in three different shades:
Light-Sun Kissed Glow (peach)
Medium- Golden Glow (green)
Dark- Bronzed Glow (violet)
The reason these shades are all tinted, is because they have color correcting properties. The peach is made to brighten your skin, the green is made to reduce redness and calm the skin, and finally the violet is made to reduce orange or sallow tones.
To read how I prep my skin before applying self tanner, and how I maintain my skin after, see my self tanning routine post here.
My first impression of this was that I didn’t think the color payoff was that great. But I noticed after I applied it a second time, the color showed more and I really liked it! I did really like that it felt very light on my skin, and the green tint makes it easy to see where you’ve applied it. It also doesn’t have a strong smell, which is always nice. One of the main reasons I bought this particular mousse was because it is made with a lot of organic ingredients, and is formulated without sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, and a lot of other harsh ingredients. You can read the full list on Sephora’s website. I apply this every other day, and I highly recommend using a mitt for even application.
In the photo above, you may not see a huge difference, but my legs definitely have more of a bronzey glow. If you want a deeper tan, go with the dark shade. I may end up getting the dark shade next time, but I do like that this product gives me a natural bronze. A word of caution, when you first apply this be careful you don’t splash any water on yourself. This product tends to run and wash off easily when it comes in contact with water after initial application.
Pros:
- The mousse feels lightweight on the skin and dries quickly
- The dark green tint makes it easy to see where you are applying it
- It gives a natural bronze glow
- Has a lot of natural and organic ingredients
- Doesn’t have a strong smell
- A little goes a long way
Cons:
- Takes at least two applications to get a deep color
- Slightly pricey
- Can be drying
- Sensitive to water when first applied
Overall, I am really happy I purchased this tanning mousse. It is around the same price I was paying for my Beauty by Earth tanning lotion. I like the mousse better because I can see where I’m applying it, and it feels very lightweight and dries quickly. The color payoff is really nice, too! I would recommend this to anyone looking to be nice and tan this coming winter.
