Hello!
This week I thought it would be fun to share my favorite beauty tools. I will be sharing my favorite makeup brushes and sponge, as well as what I use to clean my tools. Most of the brushes I use are extremely affordable! You can find all of the brushes and sponges at Target.
To start off, I will share my favorite makeup sponge for blending foundation and concealer. I remember the first time I tried a sponge to apply my foundation. It changed my life. No really, liquid foundation applies so much better with a sponge, in my opinion. I also like using a sponge to blend out concealer. I feel a sponge gives you a smoother and more even application. A brush can sometimes leave your foundation looking streaky or cakey. Some people also prefer applying foundation with a brush first, and then smoothing it out with a damp sponge after. The sponge I’ve been loving is from Target, and it comes in a 2-pack for $10! Compare that to one Beauty Blender for $20. I’ve also tried the L’Oreal and Real Techniques sponges, but those are hit or miss for me. I’ve linked them below if you’re curious.
My favorite brushes to use for contour are both from e.l.f. cosmetics. I use their contouring brush to stamp on my contour powder, and then the small tapered brush to blend it out.
For bronzer I also use two different brushes. I stamp the bronzer on with the Sonia Kashuk Contour Makeup brush, and then blend it out with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.
For blush I just use the e.l.f blush brush. It does the job.
My favorite highlighting brush is the Real Techniques Setting Brush. It’s the perfect size, and super soft and fluffy.
Now for the eyes. All of my eye shadow brushes are extremely affordable, too! Even though the prices are affordable, they are still really great quality.
First is the Sonia Kashuk Tapered Blending Makeup Brush. I use this brush to set my eyeshadow primer with powder, and to apply my transition shade.
Then, I use this Sonia Kashuk crease brush for applying shadow to my crease and/or outer corner of the lid. It is similar to the brush above, but smaller for a more precise application.
For applying glitter or shimmer shades, this flat shadow brush is perfect!
To apply shadow underneath my bottom lash line, I use this smudge brush. It’s the perfect size smoking out your bottom lash line!
If you are needing a lot of new brushes, I suggest buying a set to save you some money. Below are some of my favorite.
Cleaning your makeup brushes is a very important to make sure your brushes last a long time and don’t harbor bacteria. I had seen this cool brush cleaning tool floating around Facebook, and decided to buy it on Amazon. It makes the process a lot quicker and easier. Trust me, I used to be bad about cleaning my brushes. The main reason it was a pain was because you had to do it when you didn’t need to use your brushes any time soon after. This is because you need to let them dry completely before using them again. It’s very affordable, too. This tool not only cleans them, but dries them very quickly! Check it out below, I’ve also included the brush shampoo I use. I use the shampoo to clean my makeup sponge, too. I clean my sponge before each use by applying a small amount of shampoo and massaging it through. I then make sure all of the soap is rinsed out before using it.
I hope this was helpful! Let me know some of your favorite tools, or if you have any questions below!
